The Appropriate Location

In order to write, you have to have a place to write. Novels or software, technical documentation or short stories, even when your mind is floating free your body has to be sitting somewhere. Work is the default, but a good coffeehouse is indispensable. Dallas isn't exactly a coffeehouse sort of town (trendy bars are more the style here) so I was happy to find Gachet , a cozy little wi-fi-enabled spot about a mile from my house. It reminds me a little of Tryst in DC, but with a more Eurotrash/Dallas vibe to it. Not that there's anything wrong with that. And the coffee's good. Recommended.

The Art of Constructing Systems

By an architectonic I understand the art of constructing systems. As systematic unity is what first raises ordinary knowledge to the rank of science, that is, makes a system out of a mere aggregate of knowledge...
Maybe Kant didn't really have software systems in mind, but after spending much too much time trying to think of a title, I'll take anything even remotely close. Especially if there is a pun involved. I will try to keep this blog from degenerating into a mere aggregation, but blogs by their nature tend to lack systematic unity, and I am not hopeful.
